Ingredients

  • 1 (15 oz) can chickpeas, drained and rinsed
  • 1/4 cup tahini
  • 1/4 cup lemon juice
  • 2 cloves garlic, minced
  • 1/2 teaspoon cumin
  • Salt and pepper to taste

    Instructions

    1. Drain and rinse the chickpeas
    2. Place all ingredients in a blender
    3. Blend until completely smooth. If it seems too thick, add a tablespoon or two of water or some of the liquid from the canned chickpeas to help blend.
    4. Taste and adjust seasonings as needed
    5. Transfer the hummus to a bowl and drizzle with olive oil. Sprinkle with paprika or chopped parsley if desired
    6. Serve with pita bread, vegetables, or crackers
